About

HELLO. I AM ADAM.

UX Researcher and Cultural Psychologist trying to figure my way through the kitchen.

Story behind this food blog

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! After making increasingly complex Facebook posts of my baking and cooking adventures, I figured it was about time for me to actually have a real website to house everything.

I started my culinary adventures back in high school when I decided that I needed to learn all the key skills (doing laundry, cooking, sewing, etc.) to survive living on my own. It didn’t hurt that I also loved to eat good food!

My grandmother, the baker.

I also saw it as a way of connecting with my grandmother who was a professional baker. Unfortunately, she died before I was born, but I feel like she left an imprint of baking in my blood and by baking I am summoning a little bit of her spirit in my kitchen — replacing the Ouija board with her loaf pan and rolling pin.

However, my baking skills, in particular, really took off when I was doing a study abroad program in Sweden roughly ten years ago and had a lot of time on my hands. I started to take it as a challenge to fatten my Swedish roommate up while I lived with him lol!

While I feel like I’ve become a pretty good ametuer chef and baker, there is still lots left for me to learn!

Who in their right mind, in a choice between pancakes and living, chooses pancakes?

Harold Crick

Harold, if you pause to think, you’d realize that that answer is inextricably contingent upon the type of life being led… and, of course, the quality of pancakes.

Bridging the Past with the Future

Now, my new focus is trying to bridge my culinary background and passion with my knowledge of cultural psychology and user research and to use this as a foundation for further exploration in the field of gastronomy studies.

Hopefully, this website will spur me to work even harder at developing my culinary skills and my gastronomical education! And, in the process, provide some useful tips, reviews, recipes, etc. for those of you who somehow come across my site. I look forward to learning and cooking/baking with all of you!

Do you have questions about recipes? Wanna work together? Feel free to write to me for all inquires!
